First off, thank you to everyone who came out the 2013 Holiday Open House, we had a great time. We served many a cappuccino and ground up more bags of coffee than we can count. We loved every minute of it, right up until we crashed at the end of it all ;)


We hope those bags of coffee bring some Christmas morning cheer to all those who are gifted it, or to you as you sip it while unwrapping your gifts!

Moja’s New Joper Roaster

In 2004, we began roasting Moja Coffee on our beloved Probat roaster. Since then, we have roasted over 1 million pounds of coffee, 12 kilos at a time, every day. The demand for our coffee has grown, so it was time to expand. We did our research and eventually decided to get a Joper roaster.

Our new Joper roaster was hand made in Portugal by a wonderful team. The roaster is cast iron and the controls are all done with the latest PLC touch screen software, making a great combination of ‘old’ and ‘new.’ Just like Moja Coffee, Joper is a family-owned and operated business, started back in 1962.

In June, we flew to Portugal to check out the roaster and do some test roasts. The roaster was delivered earlier this month and we are currently completing its installation.

Come on in and have a look at our new roasting set-up! Once the Joper roaster is installed, we will more than triple our roasting capacity and will be able to pursue more roasting options to offer greater diversity to our wonderful Moja customers.

To celebrate the launch of the new Moja website, we asked Tristan to give a little welcome to everyone on video. Sporting his playoff facial hair and with only 30 seconds to prep, he does a pretty good job introducing our little cafe and what makes us special:

A Perfect 10

If you’re already a fan on Facebook, you’ll have seen this photo already. Last week, Tristan poured a perfect 10! Pouring a latte with 10 leafs on the rosetta is the ultimate in perfection. It’s rare even when you try for it, let alone in a free pour during regular hours. This is the first perfect 10 that Tristan has poured!
