The Moja Fruit Cup

For those of you who have breakfast (or a snack) at Moja, we’re pleased to add to our line of baked goods with a new fruit cup!

Filled with an assortment of fresh fruit, our fruit cups are chilled on ice for your enjoyment. As you can see, our fruit cups offer more than just melons, grapes and oranges but a true variety of fruits.

Come on in and enjoy a healthy snack at Moja!

To welcome the warmer weather, we are also cold brewing some coffee – it will truly change your mind about iced coffee. So good! (What’s the difference? Traditional iced coffee is an espresso poured over ice while cold brewed coffee steeps non-espresso coffee grounds for a long time – a much sweeter experience).

Moja’s Roaster Series 2012

Every year, we roast a signature blend for our Holiday Open House (happening on December 22nd – details here).

Moja’s Roaster Series 2012 is a special blend of Sulawesi and Guatemala coffees featuring a smooth start with slightly spicy undertones and a delicate caramel flavour at the finish. It pairs well with savoury foods such as butter tarts and scones.

Moja’s Roaster Series 2012 is available now, but only for a limited time! We’ll be roasting the last batch for the Holiday Open House – we roast a maximum of 1000 bags, but it sells out quickly during our sale. Get yours while you can!

Big news! The famous Moja Coffee Open House sale is Saturday December 22th 2012 this year. The big sale only happens twice a year and is a great time to stock up for the holidays. We’ve arranged the sale nice and close to Christmas so all those bags of coffee stay fresh as gifts under your tree!

  • $10/bag 400g coffee
  • Purchase any $20 dollar gift card, and we will add $5 bucks to the total
  • Cappuccinos are $2
  • Drip coffee is $1
  • Many prizes to be won!

Doors open at 7:30am sharp. To avoid line-ups at the bar, we will be opening the back of the shop for cash only sales of coffee beans. Head to the warehouse door on the North side of the building.

You asked for it, and here it is! Starting in December, Moja Coffee will be open 7 days a week!

In addition to being open on Sundays, we will be opening earlier on Saturday.

BTW, did you notice our new cafe decal on the doors? What do you think?

Moja’s New Joper Roaster

In 2004, we began roasting Moja Coffee on our beloved Probat roaster. Since then, we have roasted over 1 million pounds of coffee, 12 kilos at a time, every day. The demand for our coffee has grown, so it was time to expand. We did our research and eventually decided to get a Joper roaster.

Our new Joper roaster was hand made in Portugal by a wonderful team. The roaster is cast iron and the controls are all done with the latest PLC touch screen software, making a great combination of ‘old’ and ‘new.’ Just like Moja Coffee, Joper is a family-owned and operated business, started back in 1962.

In June, we flew to Portugal to check out the roaster and do some test roasts. The roaster was delivered earlier this month and we are currently completing its installation.

Come on in and have a look at our new roasting set-up! Once the Joper roaster is installed, we will more than triple our roasting capacity and will be able to pursue more roasting options to offer greater diversity to our wonderful Moja customers.

If you’ve stopped by Moja in the past week, you’ll notice a new display on our counter. We’re now happy to be serving loose leaf tea from Ariel Tea in 9 different blends. You can sit down and enjoy a mini pot of tea on site or we’ll brew your tea to-go.

Our tea options now include:

  • English Breakfast
  • Earl Grey
  • Masala Chai
  • Moroccan mint
  • Chamomile
  • Green Sencha
  • Rooibos
  • Pomegranate Blueberry Rooibos
  • Lemon Sublime Rooibos

Feel free to open the containers in the display and have a sniff of the new teas. We love them!

Happy 2012

Well Moja fans, we are well into the start of the new year, which means lots of cool things are happening here. Ask any of our Baristas for a list of upcoming single origin organic coffees that are arriving daily. And if you haven’t already tried a Chemex coffee, drop in and have Scott (our very own lord of the rings) demo one of these little guys to you. It will be the best drip coffee you will ever drink.
